GREAT ENTERTAINER! December 26, 2005 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
About a year ago, my mother saw Daniel O'Donnell on PBS during pledge week and instantly became a big fan. She's 78, and doesn't care for virtually any of today's entertainers. I'm 51 and neither do I. BTW, I like him, too. He has a very distinctive voice and a magnetic stage presence. His singing partner, Mary Duff, is very good, too. I bought this DVD for my mother's Christmas present and it's really great. It has two bonus features; a 25 minute interview and a visit to his hometown in Ireland. The concert itself is over an hour. I would have rated this item with five stars, if not for one thing. The credits list several guest stars, who don't appear in the concert; The Lennon Sisters, Charley Pride, Pam Tillis, Jo Ann Castle and The Gatlin Brothers. I've seen two or three of them in the PBS broadcast, so I know they were actually in the show. I noticed the "Live In Branson" DVD description on Amazon lists them. I guess the producers of this DVD just forgot to edit them out of the credits. Nevertheless, I can still recommend "Encore" to any O'Donnell fan.
